Shipbuilding industry includes building up and dismantling commercial liners, cruises, freighter and luxury boats, etc. Due to the harsh nature of the seawater the construction of these vessels need to be framed and bolted against with marine grade material. Fasteners manufactured for shipbuilding industries are often termed as marine grade fasteners. Fasteners used in shipbuilding fall for general corrosion, hydrogen induced corrosion, sulphide stress corrosion, galvanic corrosion, pitting and cavitation and microbial attack as well. Marine grade fasteners are manufactured with precision while selecting the correct material. These fasteners are often supplied with extra protective coatings such as PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene). PTFE Coated B7/2H Fasteners are most commonly used in shipbuilding industry. Others include, Grade 8.8, 10.9, 12.9, F593, F594, Alloy 20, Inconel 718, ASTM A453 Grade 660, etc.
