Alloy 254SMO Fasteners, UNS S31254

Alloy 254SMO Equivalent Grades

AISI 4130 Bolts

Alloy 254SMO fasteners are manufactured in all forms of bolts, screws, stud bolts, studs, threaded rods, nuts, washers and other custom as per drawing fastening parts, in metric and imperial sizes. Alloy 254smo fasteners are commonly produced in forging specification ASTM A182 F44, widely used for bolting application in food and beverage, chemical processing, desalination plants, petroleum, paper & pulp industries. Most commonly used fasteners in 254smo are stud bolts with heavy hex nuts, manufactured to ASTM A182 F44 grade specification. Alloy 254 fasteners are often produced in grade equivalent UNS S31254 & DIN EN 1.4547. ASTM A193 also covers grade specification B8MLCuN/B8MLCuNA for S31254 bolts, screws, stud bolts and A194 grade 8MLCuN/8MLCuNA for nuts.

Alloy 254smo is an austenitic stainless steel designed for maximum resistance, pitting and crevice corrosion, alternatively known by its grade equivalent UNS S31254. With high levels of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen, Alloy 254smo is especially suited for high chloride enviroment such as brakish water, sea-water, paper pulp mill, bleaching plants and other chloride processing streams. 254smo offers chloride resistance superior to that of alloy 904L, Alloy 254smo, Alloy 825 and alloy G. S31254 is often used as a replacement for critical components of larger construction where stainless steel type 316l or 317l has failed by pitting, crevice attack or chloride stress corrosion cracking. In new construction, alloy 2540smo has been found in many cases to be a technical adequate and much less costly substitute for nickel based alloys and titanium. 254smo is substantially stronger than common austenitic grades, but is also characterised by high ductility and impact strength.

Alloy 254SMO is a very high end austenitic stainless steel. It is designed with a combination of impact toughness, resistance to pitting, crevice, chloride stress corrosion cracking and twice the strength of 300 series stainless steel. It is known to posses excellent workability as well.
