Alloy A286 is an age hardenable, iron-nickel-chromium alloy, suitable for applications that requires combination of high strength, resistance to oxidation and corrosion at high service temperatures. Alternatively called as Incoloy Alloy A286 can effectively resist corrosion and maintain strength at temperatures upto 1300 deg fahrenheit or 704 deg celcius and resist oxidation upto 1800 deg fahrenheit or 982 deg celcius. The high strength and excellent fabrication characteristics of alloy A-286 make the alloy useful for various components of aircraft and industrial gas turbines. It is prominently used for bolting applications in automotive engine and manifold components subject to high levels of heat and stress and in the offshore oil and gas industries. ASTM A453 is the commonly referred specification for manufacturing Alloy A286 Fasteners under Grade type 660.
